The establishment of Overland Microfinance Limited stems from the long-standing partnership
between its co-founders, Mr. Ejaga Joseph Mahamba and Mr. Stephen Shinday Jilala.
Their journey began during their Advanced Level studies in the PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) combination,
where they developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
They later pursued different but complementary
academic paths—Mr. Mahamba earned a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from Mzumbe University, while Mr. Jilala
obtained a Bachelor of Science with Education from the University of Dar es Salaam. Professionally, Mr. Mahamba worked
as an auditor at the Tanzania Revenue Authority, gaining expertise in finance and compliance, while Mr. Jilala served as a
government education officer, building experience in leadership and community engagement.
Their paths later converged
in Dar es Salaam, where they ventured into agribusiness, managing livestock such as cows, sheep, and goats. This
experience strengthened their skills in financial planning, risk management, and investment. Motivated by the
financial challenges faced by local entrepreneurs, they transitioned into the financial services sector and
established Overland Microfinance Limited to provide accessible credit solutions and support economic growth
within their community.
Overland Microfinance Limited is a financial institution established in 2026 and based in Goba Njia Nne,
Ubungo Municipality. Founded by Mr. Ejaga Joseph Mahamba and Mr. Stephen Shinday Jilala, the company
draws on over 15 years of experience in tax administration and commercial banking to address credit
gaps in Tanzania’s informal and formal sectors.
It offers a range of products, including micro-loans and asset financing for boda boda, bajaji, and
agricultural equipment. Beyond lending, Overland also provides business support services such as incubation,
tax advisory, and professional development to promote long-term client success.
